The party was ambushed by the orc party from the ruins when they returned to the halfling village. The battle was long, and Yrving was seemingly cut in half, but miraculously he recovered just in time to save the day against the rampaging Ogre. The leader of the Orc party used a magic potion to escape the conflict.

On the return home the party encountered a few travellers who spoke of going to an old outpost that is supposedly beset by monsters. The party decided to join them. Here they learned that an innkeeper is profiting from adventurers who come to slay the beasts. The party heads out and sure enough the track down a pair of large creatures, the battle is fierce, and Gyki is slain (this is revisionist history I know, but the player is leaving the group) After burying their comrade the party returned to the Inn, where the inn keeper seemed stunned that the monsters they battled were so large, he said that reports of the creatures had them at being no larger than a man.

The party decided at this

Josi and Dunkin Planktankers are carpenters who work out of their home.

Petti Hookchanger is an old bachelor who runs a small store out his home. He often journeys to other settlements to purchase and sell goods for the community.

Jinny Potterstock, who is Frizzig's wife. Tipi and Simmy are their children.

Jobo and Harriet Moongrowers. Jobo is the town sheriff and Harriet is the town healer.

After Harriet healed the parties injuries and they were well fed and had their fill of honey mead. The party was escorted outside to a human-sized 10 man tent they had erected for their large visitors.

Fizzig and Sheriff Jobo asked Aethelric if he would perform his duties as a knight of the realm and try to retrieve some goods that were stolen form a nearby farmer. He agreed.

The next morning the group, along with Sheriff Jobo who is also an excellent tracker set out to the scene of the crime. They then went to interview farmer Pilbik (the victim) and he told them it was three lightly armed humans. They ordered him out of the wagon, which he did, then they told him to run away, which he did.

The party tracked the wagon and the ponies to an old run-down farmhouse a few hours walk away. While the party was interestingly figuring out walking time based on the perceived slowness of Sheriff Jobo and his small legs, Sheriff Jobo was in fact every bit as fast as the heavily armored Sir Aethelric.

At the farmhouse they saw three seedy hicks tending a large garden out front. The stolen wagon and ponies were visible behind the house.

After much deliberation the party strode forth to speak to the alleged perpetrators. One of them (the brave one) promised them all a gruesome death while his two companions took advantage of the distraction to run like the wind. As soon as he noticed it was five to one odds (assuming he can count that high) the other one took of as well. Yrving took a pot-shot with a lightning bolt, but they got away without a chase.

The party returned the wagon and honey to farmer Pilbik, but not before Yrving levelled the old farmhouse with a mighty gust of wind.

In the old farmhouse the Party found 70 farthers.

Farmer Pilbik gave each of them a jar of his honey.

Upon returning to the village, Gyki noted outloud that something didn't feel right, at which point an ambush was sprung!

This is where we called it a night. Next week we begin with the ambush. I did warn the party that this was one of the tougher fights in the entire campaign, so be prepared.

Also I have changed the Get-Out-Of-Death rule. I am replacing it by offering a new advantage.

Single Use Luck 1pt
When you use this advantage you can reroll anything just as you would with the luck advantage, but then this advantage is spent and should be removed from your character sheet. THe other limitation is that no matter how many times you purchase this advantage, it can only be used once per session.

I will allow you guys to buy as many of these as you want prior to the next session, however after that these can only be purchased during downtime opportunities to spend character points.

With some difficulty the party managed to open the door to the masoleum and descended down the stairs to a chamber beneath, in here were many ornate crypts, labelled with the names of the kings and queens of Authelier. The formost crypt, Darian the 1st, had a huge golden sunburst on the top. While the group debated tactics, Gyki grew impatient and attempted to lever the sunburst free. The very second he touched the crypt with his crowbar one of the coffins flipped open and outstepped a horrifying creature. It screamed with an unnaturally horrific sounds and several skeletons appeared, it also pulled a lever that was hidden within its coffin which caused two large stone block to drop down sealing the party in the chamber.

The battle was long and painful as every member of the group was injured, Gyki nearly lost his life as the horrific guardian dropped him senseless with a mighty gut-punch and a swarm of beatles came out of his coffin and rapidly chewed the poor Goblin raw. Eventually though they defeated the.

Now for the graverobbing, the party uncovered lots of gold and jewels, plus the golden sword. They then left the crypt. ''

THey decided to go and collect their horses only to find that a pack of orcs had the horses and their old campsite. An orcish sentry spotted them and there was much running away and hiding. THe entire party decided to hoof it out of the ancient ruins as fast as they could. They travelled for a few days before exiting the woods, and noted that the mana level was still elevated above what is normal for Caithness, this is clearly not right.

As they continued walking on the long journey home they saw a small village off the road which they approached in hopes of purchasing some supplies, when they arrived a small figure approached them "Greetings, my name is Frizzig Potterstock. Welcome to Teakettle Hills. We don't get many tall fellows here, what brings you to our humble village?"

******END OF ACT 2.  Now Scott will resume his campaign for a while and when he is ready to break, we will resume at the mysterious village of the halflings! Woooooooooooo!

After clearing out the crypt underneath the old cathedral the party returned to the ruined city. Sneakily avoiding the wandering skeletons and the wandering golem they travelled to the old graveyard where they found a pair of intact masoleums. They decided not to violate the sanctity of these places until such time as they were left with no other options for locating the golden sword.

They then travelled to the huge building in the center of town. All the while with the uneasy feeling of being watched. They entered the building which appeared to be a large government center. In the back they found a massive stone door that was magically sealed. Yrving gave it the old wizzard whammy and down they went into the basement. In here was a massive room with a pair of golems, a few skeletons that seemed to appear at random from time to time, and even the walls had it in for them as they sometimes shot firebolts at the party. Eventually they defeated these guardians to reach a door at the far end of the room.

In this chamber was an angel trapped in a warding circle, the angel claimed to be named Michael, and was being held to power the defenses of this ancient city. After some bargaining they released Michael, and the cities mana level dropped all the way down to normal. Michael trasported them to the city above and told them that the golden sword lay beneath one of the masoleums in the graveyard. Then he vanished in a puff of divinity.

The party noted sounds of a large group of creates in the massive building they just left. They decided not to investigate.

Next week: Journey into the masoleum and the HORRORS that undoubtedly lie beneath.

The Group descended into the old dirt walled rooms below the old cathedral. In here they found several looted catacombs before coming across a long dead giant spider that was somehow still in the fighting spirit. After a tough battle Yrving finally blew the thing in half with a mighty lightning bolt.

The group continued deeper into the catacombs before being attacked by a group of undead, including a few more recently deceased Muslims (based on their apparel). Only these particular undead cheat! They can somehow travel through walls, and can knock a man out just by touching him! Regardless the party was easily victorious, and they found lots of fancy items that seem likely to have been looted from all of the empty chambers they searched before.

The session ended with the party nervously camping in the entrance room to this underground crypt.

The party (minus Gyki) travelled together to Count Fenrick where they told some of what happened to them to the count, and warned him of an impending invasion and (eventually) of a slight problem with a demon. Jedial determined that Lady Lleroflyn is in fact in in town searching for something, he doesn't know what, only that it is something needed to "save the elves"

They learned from the Count that Jacoby was in a town many years ago and his apprentice was arrested and executed for Blasphemy and Paganism, Jacoby held the count responsible for not intervening on his behalf.

Returning the next day with Gyki in tow the group returned to the count where he rewarded them for their efforts with a few magical trinkets from his collection. Then for the real reward for a job well done, another job. He assigned Sir Aethelric the task of dealing with the demon problem.

The count then hired Arabell to join his kitchen staff, no more overpriced bandaging and cooking for the party!

He also sent his eldest daughter, the princess with a face that only a mother could love off to inform the king of the potential invasion.

The group reluctantly bargained with Gyki for his services and set out to the ancient ruins of a long abandoned city that only exists in ambigious legends and was convienently printed on the map. Upon arrival they found that magic really works well here, and using Yrvings power of hustle they ran away from a few groups of skeletons.

In the city they saw a Cathedral, a graveyard, a really big building, and the remains of a town square and the occasional wall fragment or building foundation. Wandering around the town were many skeletons mimicking daily activities, also there was a huge iron wrapped flesh golem patrolling the city.

The group tied their horses to a tree in hopes that when they return they wont find their horses are now a cloven nightmare of whinnying dead looking to graze on their brains. The now horseless heroes then went to the cathedral, where they found an abandoned (but recent) campsite, and a hatch that had been recently opened to the cathedral basement.

Stay tuned next week when we find out whats in the basement? Where is the golden sword? Will Yrving blow the party to kingdom come with a miscast while trying to warm his feet? Will Jedial murder Gyki in his sleep? Will they find untold wealth hidden beneath the old cathedral, or just a host of rotting dead things?  Will their horses stalk and kill them ? Will Yrving even notice?

The group was bitterly divided on whether or not to attempt a rescue
of the blacksmith. Eventually they split with the warriors and
Arabelle heading into town while Yrving and GYki remained at the
farm/temple.

Aetherlic, Jedail, and Arabelle saw a pair of lizards watching over a
human blacksmith who was chained to his anvil. They launched an ambush
that quickly devolved into a dangerous melee for their lives. Hearing
the sounds of battle Yrving and Gyki came charging into town. Just as
they finished off those lizards, the three from the Inn arrived.
Aethelric was nearly killed but eventually the party was victorious.

The smithy told them that he had been a captive since the town was
taken back in 2001, and he has been making suits of armor for the
lizards ever since. He also told them that he has seen lizard patrols
equiped with his armor from time to time, and they also have newly
minted weaponry as well that he did not create. He believes there are
other smiths being held elsewhere as well.

Arabelle took a finely made bow that was hidden in her old house. It
was intended for her son by his late father, and she plans on giving
it to him.

In town the party also found a pair of draft horses and a wagon, they
returned to Jakobys house and removed the rest of the books. They
noticed the evidence of some nasty poltergeist-like activity at the
house, they did not linger.

The group snuck out of Blythe under the cover of darkness and returned
to Harkwood.

The blacksmith went on his way, just happy to no longer be chained to an anvil.

The group sold off most of the items they found on their adventure and
it was quite a haul indeed!

Here is where the real drama unfolded. Gyki started playing hardball
over the loot, and Yrving got frustrated and left. Eventually Gyki
took his share, plus some other concessions he negotiated and returned
to town in a huff.

Yrving took the books to Hugh the Wise, who rewarded him further.
Yrving then joined up with Aethelric and Jedial and Araballe as the
four of them plan to make a report to Count Fenwick in the morning.

My understanding is that the next session will likely begin with
Aethelric, Jedial, Yrving, and Arabelle making a report to Count
Fenwick while Gyki guards the tavern.

This will be followed by some downtime as Aethelric is getting some
armor fitted, and I want folks to have a chance to spend some
character points. I am estimating two weeks or so, we will try to get
through that fairly quickly as it is not a terrible amount of fun at
the table. So be prepared to know what you want to do with your cash
and character points.

Exhausted and frightened the party headed to the village of Haphestius
in search of a pagan temple to loot. Upon arriving at the village they
hear the pinging of metal on metal.

Gyki and Jedial skulk into town to get a looksee, and they see a pair
of lizardmen at an otherwise abandoned inn. Go around the town, the
party heads to the temple where they are ambushed by six fierce
reptile-man warriors.

The battle is long and painful but eventually the companions overcome
and make their way into the hidden temple.

In the back they locate a reptile-man mystic, he used to be the
commander of this unit, but he has since become a pacifist.

THe group is overcome by visions, well except for Gyki who says he was
unaffected, but Yrving is pretty sure he's lying.

Aethleric and Jedial share the highlights of their visions, where
Aethleric describes finding a golden sword in the ruins of a city deep
in the forest, and using it to slay a horrible monster at Harkwood
Keep. Jedial describes Harkwood being overrun by orcs and lizards and
Aethleric dies, Gyki runs and hides, and Yrving leaves to give rise to
an even greater evil.

Arabelle is distraught, she has a vision of her child, in a few years
time being killed in a war, she describes him carrying a pike wearing
the livery of Harkwood, and being killed by an arrow in a battle
against men wearing the livery of Sterling (one of the rebel factions
in the civil war) The party seems largely indifferent to her distress.

The party deduces that the pinging sound coming from the village is
most likely that of an enslaved blacksmith creating weapons for the
reptile-men, and begin to debate whether or not to rescue him, or
leave him to his fate and return to Harkwood to warn Count Fenwick.

NOTES:
After hearing Scott's arguements against it, and considering them, I
have determined that he is correct, the spend a character point to
negate death is too generous, so I am changing it. You can now spend a
character point to reroll something, you cannot change the decisions
that lead to that roll, but if you flub a roll (such as Jedials parry
roll in that case) you can spend a cp to reroll something. FUrthermore
you can also spend a cp to make me reroll something (mostly for the
case of when I roll a critical success which allows for no active
defenses)

****END OF ACT 1

The party travelled to the house of Jacoby, the old paranoid wizard. And here were beset by man-eating endtables and spooky haunts. In here they found the library, lots of treasure, and old box in the basement, upon opening the old box in the basement a horrible demon was released.

They found some notes about the demon and realized they have a few months before it can become corporeal and carry out its mission, which happens to be killing Count Fenwick of Harkwood.

The party fled the house in the middle of the night after some rather frightening poltergeist activity.

The introduction setting was largely a venue for folks to introduce their characters to one another, and they were given a few starting quests. Yrving was offered out of his apprenticeship obligigation, all he had to do was travel to a dangerous lizardman infested territories and retrieve the library from a dangerous and paranoid old wizard who is probably dead, but also probably left lots of traps in house secretive lair. Aethelric met a young lady by the name of Arabelle who told him of a great treasure that could be found in the ruins of an old village in the lizardman infested lording of Blythe. Jedial met a boy who was worried that his mother (Arabelle) was going to be forced into prostitution if she couldnt find a way to pay the bills. Gyki overheard talk of a great treasure and offered his services to Aethelric on a contract basis.
